Climatronic illumination

I have a 2004 Passat, which is sill under warranty, but all the illumination from the climatronic control has failed. I expect the dealer to sort this for me but wonder if anyone can suggest the cause / cure?!

Maybe just a bulb in the back of the unit, or maybe the unit itself. If under warranty let the dealer sort it

I have a problem with my climatronic illumination. The climatronic seems to be working fine, except and this is the problem I have.

Start car and climatronic display comes on, but, the outside temp is just two lines no figure. Fans do not start, and if at night the illumination does not light up the display. IF I switch the radio on, all starts to work fine. Fans start outside display works, and the illumination comes on. Now this is on a Skoda Superb which is at the end of the day a Passat. So as it has skoda/vw radio, and Skoda/ VW climatronic on it, I was hoping someone on here may have had a similar problem with their Passat or other VW that has the same set up. The car is an 05 plate, and the dealer has had a look but said they could not find a problem. You can get the fans to work without the radio in two ways. 1st leave the system to start it's self, which can be anywhere from a couple of seconds to 10 - 20 mins, or simply press the fan button, and they will work, but the outside temp display and illumination will only work if the radio is on.
