    Hi,

Bought a 2004TDI Passat Sport 130bhp in August 2007 and love it. However there has been one problem that has been on the car since I got it. There was a slight vibration underneath the car that sounded like a heat shield hitting the middle box in the exhaust. In the past couple of months the vibration has got worse. Got a couple of mechanics to look at and the first one thought it was something noising in the middle box and needs to be replaced. This requires the whole backend of the exhaust been replced which aint cheap. The second thought it could be the exhaust box mountains so a bit confusing. Has anyone had a similar problem. Any advice would be great.

    Welcome to the forum

Very common fault, had it myself.

Its the middle exhuast mount, its very fragile, skoda wanted to replace my central exhaust at £300 IIRC I took it to my local Kwik Fit and they welded the mounts back to the Pipe for £15.

I found some pictures on the net, which was of a passat, when I had the vibrations.

Definitely worth a shot. Did you weld the exhaust where it fits onto the mountain directly together. Would it restrict the exhaust die to not been able to move. Got a quote for 280 exxluding labour. If it dose,t work still have to replace so will give it a go
