I have finally got round to spending a bit of cash on my car i have a black mk5 1.9tdi and am going to fit 18" R32 wheels to it, However the dude in the garage recomended i get the car lowered with eibach springs by 30mm as the car would sit on the wheels a lot nicer!
Just wondering if any one has any advice as to fitting these springs and how the wheels will look, Too low, bumpy ride.....
    Thanks.

It will look better but the ride may be a bit harsher, by just changing the springs and not the shocks, it will have an effect on the life of your original shocks.

i had mine lowered 40mm and it seems fine. yes the ride is harder especially with lower profile tyres fitted. But i spoke with some suspension people and their comment was the shocks fitted to the vw are far superior to any sports suspension package unless u spend big bucks and go all out on a fully adjustable kit (about 800). but do get 4 wheel alignment done asap as u' ve lowered it.

Hi I fitted 18" wheels on my wifes MK5 and have a set of Koni lowering springs -35mm for sale this is due to me going for a coilover kit which is ride height adjustable. I have only fitted the rear spings and fronts are still in the box, this was just to see the drop which wasn't that much on her car as the GT is -15mm than standard TDi so all we got was about -20mm drop. We paid £90 for the spring kit and will accept a offer if you are interested PM me.

Also forgot to mention I didn't feel much difference in ride, it feels better than my BMW 530d sport which has the factory M-Tech suspension.
