Hello,

'm new to this forum as I have just bought myself a 1994 Audi 80 1.9 TDI. I was wondering if someone could help me. It has a slight water leak which I'm sure is coming out of the thermostat housing. So I took it out to have a look, and the rubber 'O' ring seal is all bent as if it got trapped when the last owner put it back together.

So I went down to Halfords tonight and bought a new Thermostat with new 'O' ring seals. My question is ....... the packet has 3 'O' ring seals one which fits onto the rim of the Thermostat and 2 other thick round ones of different sizes. The larger one definitly goes on last as I have seen this in the Haynes manual, but do I fit the third one on before the thermostat goes in or do I just ignore it? I want to get it right as all of you will know if you have done it just how fiddly it is to get the bolts in and out!

Many Thanks in advance.

Jamie
