Remote locking/unlocking

Hi all - wondering if anyone can help me. I have a 53 plate tdi 130 estate and have had a strange problem with the central locking this morning.

I could not unlock the car with the remote so, thinking battery in fob may be problem, used spare set - that didn't work either. Opened door with key, released tailgate with switch, and alarm went off (I'd assumed that unlocking door would turn off alarm - red led had stopped flashing).

Anyway...couldn't stop alarm with fob (still not working) so had to let it finish sounding. When it had finished, key fobs work perfectly!?

Any ideas? (I've tried checking for water in footwells etc and they're bone dry). All seems well for now but is there anything I should check? Is it possible to be a one-off problem or a symptom of something worse?

Hi Crasher - yeah, it's dry under carpet and around the relays etc on side panel in passenger footwell. Also just checked by pouring water...drain holes are working fine too.

Now you need to get a fault code read done on the convenience system.
