Does my car have an intercooler

Hello, this may be a stupid question, but does my 1994 Audi 80 1.9 TDi have an intercooler. If so where is it? I can see the pressure pipe from the blower vanishing off down the side of the engine and another coming up and disappearing into the inlet manifold. But thats it!

Does the "i" after the TD bit mean intercooler (as opposed to injected as by the virtue of the fact that its a diesel it will be injected!!).

Also if i paint the "d" or "i" red will my car be faster?

all tdis have an intercooler, it will be under the inner wings below the headlight somewhere side may vary.
