    Hi There,

    I have a problem with my 1993 T4 2.4d.

when turning the engine on light comes on as normal, after it starts it goes off.

but when you drive and the engine speed increases the light flickers.

if you brake or let the revs drop it goes out.

i thought if might be the belt slipping so i have re-tensioned the belt but it still flickers.

I think the alternator is charging because the battery is fine.

    any guesses would be appreciated.

    Olga

worn alternator brushes, commutator, diode pack on the way out,if its any consolation my t4 1900 has had a flickering warning light as you for 2 years now, never fails to start though so I`ve lived with it.

just to let you all know

yesterday the light stayed on all the time .

so me thinks must be the alternator

had a look on german ebay (cheapest place for t4 parts) and found there are lots of different alternators fitted to T4.

so desided to take alternator off to find out what type mine was now hears the best bit when i went to disconect the wiring i found the problem a broken wire where it joins the alternator

so now very happy prob solved and dont have to spend out for new alternator
