Im new to these forum's but can anybody help
    Ive got a 99 Golf Cab(MK3/4) 1.8.
Whilst driving the other day i went to change into 3rd gear and the pedal went all the way to the floor as if the cable had snapped, i got the car home and on inspection the cable aint snapped.
The pedal goes straight to the floor when pressed but dont return.
Can anybody please help me as wether its the gearbox or clutch, the car had a clutch fitted last year(only coverd 6000-7000miles since)

Hi If you find no fault with the clutch pedal, wire,or the release shaft lever,(the part the wire is attached to at the side of the gearbox)Then i think you will find the lever which presses the push rod to free the clutch is split on its splines. There is a large green disc on the end of the gearbox, remove this and you will see the lever.

My Golf pedal snapped yesterday (sounds similar to the problem stated). Kenney, can you let me know how best to get it repaired (i.e. complete new pedal, have a mechanic weld it, etc), plus what sort of cost I'm looking at?? Thanks

The first you need to check if it is the pedal or the wire that is broken, if not, then it most surely is the lever in the gearbox This is not a difficult job,you remove the green plate on the end of the gearbox to access the lever.I dont think it would pay you to weld this part for all the price of it.

Hi A little, and not enough to worry about.Jack the car up, on the one side only. You will however need to replace the disc.
