    hey there i have a mk 4 golf 2000 plate v5 2.3 with 100k on the clock.

there is a really annoying creak from the front off side of the car.
Ive changed the Top mount and bearing on the suspension strut,
The ARB drop link, lower arm ball joint and the steering track/tie rod end.
And the noise is still there its doing my head in and its getting worse!!

I would be grateful if any one can tell me what the problem maybe.

    Thanks James .

I had this with a V6 4Motion I had a few years back. It only had 17k on the clock. I had all that you have replaced under warranty and the creak was still there. It's not what you want to hear, but I sold the car after only 4 months as it did my head in!
Its not the ARB bushes is it? I read before that they are a weak point...

if its creaking when goingt over bumbs, i would suspect bushes....lower arm bushes...the ones located where the lower arm is attatched to the cross member...but i could be wrong

That was when mine did it. Driving along it would be fine, but going over the speed bumps on my estate and it would creak for England. Very annoying!

    thanks for the suggestions.

i shall change the ARB bushes tomorrow.
and then see if its better.
if not il go for a lower arm aswell.
bloody expensive way of getting rid of a squeek.
i thought it was the rs 4 wheels that was on it but i manged to borrow some proper gti alloys and it was the same.
its happening as you drive froward at low speeds as well as normal crusing speed.
only does it when theres load on the wheels when its jacked up theres no squeeek!
    cheers james

sounds mad but your off side front suspension spring is not snapped is it. my brother in law broke his going over a hump back bridge i little to fast and landed very heavy on the front of the car. untill it was fixed it creaked and banged like mad.

the spring broke right at the top and it was sliding about in its seat.

this was the point he followed me and got new suspension

    Hi,

I had the exact same problem with my Mk4 - you would only hear a slight creak when going over speed ramps etc.

Replaced the anti-roll bar bushes and problem was sorted. Its a cheap fix so its worth doing it first to see if it clears up the problem.

    Best of luck with it.
