AUDI 80 K reg tappet noise!!!

Hi, i've just spent a load of money getting the beast through MOT, a month later and i think i have a noisy Tappet.

The noise is nice and regular with the engine and increases with revs.

The engine is the 1.9tdi, i wondered whether they were automatic adjustment (oil) or manual. I which case, how can i fix this annoying noise?

The tappets are oil filled and self adjusting. Some people say flushing oils can cure noisy tappets but I think these treatments are not great for the engine as they strip out beneficial deposits as well as bad ones! fully synthetic oils can also help, but the problem tends to come back sooner or later.
to change the tappets, the valve cover and camshaft have to be removed, make a note of the position and orientation of each cam bearing cap, retorque to correct value. Consider changing the timing belt while your in there?
