    Hi,

I have recently bought a GTI TD 150. Performance is generally great, but at low revs (up to 2000 rpm) there is very little power until at 2500 rpm it goes like a rocket.

Is this normal? because it's a bit inconvenient. Is this likely to be a problem, e.g. with MAF? If not, then can it be improved with remapping?

    ta,
    Richard

The spool on the 'VB' turbo is a little different to the other GT17's.

    Check N75 function.

A remap will sort it right out

You've lost me a bit there. What is N75 function and how do I check it?

I was thinking of getting a remap done anyway to boost the power. But I was worried that if there was an engine problem the remap wouldn't go right. Will they do a diagnosis check as part of the remap? I am thinking of using Chipped UK.

It will be worth you or the tuner making vag-com logs while stock so you can see if there are any issues with maf etc. Also logging the boost (actual vs req) will help things. We always do this on the VAG tdi's as many of them do have faulty maf sensors!

Is that not fairly normal for the 150 engines as they are supposed to suffer from a lot more turbo lag than the other tdi engines due to the bigger VNT17 turbo?

I've got a PD150 also, and found that at low revs its as slow as a van. However I'm considering a BMC induction, and I have posted a topic on whether anyone has used one before. I'm also considering a remap and have read many good things about chipped UK.

Is it possible to remap so that the turbo kicks in at say 1500rpm so that you don't suffer from the lag?

My 130 brake bora is the same, although you start to feel the turbo around 1600/1700rpm, same with my mums and brothers! Its just turbo lag. Remap can make it kick in earlier.
