Just slotting the new Dash in, once all is well I will go on the hunt for ambi pur.

I got the parts from Hills Salvage in Skelmersdale, free delivery too and less that £50 for Centre Console, Radio Frame and Top Piece.

If anyone is interested the car is for sale soon, 51 Plate (02) 1.8T Quattro Avant in Dolphin Grey with 128k, Has Full Audi/Specailist SH, thinking 5.25k?

    Does that sound reasonable?

Hiyya fellas i had the same problem myself it looks like some of the fragrance leaks out and for some reason it reacts with the vinyl on the dash bubbling it up and then it just peels off. I'm waiting for a reply off them to see how to go about claiming compensation for the damage caused. If any of you fellas hear anything off ambi-pur could you let me know. Cheers. P.S don't buy the air freshener if you want keep your motor smart!!!!

Spoke to the guy in the parts department at audi and he say's he's known about this problem for 4 years it's because the front air vent is on a angle and when the air freshener is full it sometimes leaks a touch out the top and the air freshener should be kept upright. Why don't ampi pur say not suitable for certain cars????

When I worked ata VW dealers we had a MK5 golf with a ruined radio frontage fo the very same reason. The owner complained to Ambi Pure in the highest possible manner. They paid for a new radio!

If you take it to the top and seek advice from trading standards etc etc they should cover the cost. I seem to remember other air freshener liquids dont do this.

If you can somehow make a link between this happening and a safety issue (noxious chemicles being released as it burns away the rubber perhaps) or something like that then they will bend over backwards to keep you quiet.

Thats unreal! Id certainly be speaking with (and raising a case with) Trading Standards. They are really helpful. Its blatantly obvious that the product has caused damage to your car.
Sara Lee should be paying for all the damaged parts to be replaced including all labour costs.
They are selling this product on the market and as such it should be fully tested, if its not it only leaves them open to claims for damages.... (hopefully theres no disclaimer on thier packaging!)

Hope you get them to sort it out...

    Hey up,

has anyone contacted Ambi Pur as yet regarding this issue??

I would expect this to be affecting many VAG cars across the range, if not most cars depending on the type of plastic or lacquer used on the dash.
