    Hello everyone,
I'm after a bit of advice please!! I drive an '04 plate 2.0 A4 FSi SE and recently had a few captions come up on the dashboard-specifically the ESP, Engine Management and Emissions light!

I think the ESP and Management lights are a result of the Emissions light (Safety thing maybe?) since I got the fault codes downloaded and the only 2 were a Misfire and more concerningly Exhaust Gas Recirculation System!!

Its done around 75k miles and recently had a water pump change due to a leak-since the front was off I also got the cambelt changed instead of at 80k miles (tight i know!) I think these issues started after that but cannot say for sure as they would illuminate but then clear after i shut down and restarted the engine!

The techy i spoke to mumbled something about EGR valves and taking out throttle bodies(!) but he didn't sound convinced!!

Any ideas/advice etc would be massively apprecated!!

also can someone please explain what the recirc system does as i thought only turbos needed needed that type of system!!

    Many thanks!!

I had a similar thing happen on my 2001 1.8t with similar miles, there was a lack of power, and both of those lights were on the dash. It was the air mass meter. 70 quid from audi, easy to fit. Not sure if a non turbo car has the same system but it was a similar error code diagnosis from what I remember.

A fault code read should show you what is wrong.
