Long story short. Was taking the headlights off today (following Rick T's guide) and all of the screws that held them in place had been massively over-tightened by the previous, clearly idiotic, owner. In the end we completely threaded one of the screws... What can I do? not too experienced in this department. mate said something about drilling.. touch apprehensive about this method though.

Would dearly love some help with this...

    Cheers.

Forgot to say, does it **** anyone else off when people unnecesarily over-tighten things?? Wheel nuts are the worst, when those pricks do it with a gun untill it's pretty much useless. "aggrevation"

I know it's of little help but..... mine also seemed impossible to turn, not due to being over tightened but because they had corroded so badly. Was an utter pig of a job in the end because of this!

    Hi,

I'm no car expert but have had to remove "solid" screws or bolts from various bits of machinery many a time, depending on the individual screw or bolt you could try a variety of tools, impact drivers which when used with caution are quite effective at just breaking the seal, you could also try a pair of locking pliers if the head is accesable.
If you take your time and think things through you will suceed with out making things worse.

PS I have just noticed one of my bulbs are out, so here goes (now where's that hammer)

    Good luck

    Len

you will have to drill it out . then replace it with a rivinut . it is a nut that expands and fills the hole in the lock carrier . done it myself . sell the kits under CAR BUILDER SOLUTIONS kit car supply .
