Hello, I'm new to the forum, took delivery of 2004 plate A4 1.8t quattro a couple of days ago, so far I love it. There is a Nokia car kit fitted to the car but I am unsure as to what model phone will fit, can anyone please help.

We would need the model number of the actual hide away box or a photo of the cradle. If it's a bluetooth kit most of the Nokia phones will work even with some limited functionallity.

Thanks for the replies, I would prefer to use my Sony Ericsson in the car, is it possible to change cradles and if so where would I get one from.

It may be but without seeing the current kit or knowing what it is, we can't really help you.

And avoid original SE car kits like the plague, they are hopeless.

Try searching for bluetooth accessories on your phone while in the car with the engine running.

If it finds a car kit, you probably have a Nokia CK-7W. Look on the Nokia site for the manual, where you will get the access code (probably 0000). Connect to it and hey presto, you have a working car kit that doesn't need the holder. Will go with most phones, including Sony and Motorola.

If it doesn't find anything, chances are it is an old CARK-91, which Nokia was pensioning off about 2004/5. This only works with real old phones like the 6310i. It's as much use as a wax kettle and needs slinging out.

If you have to go for a new kit, take a look at Parrot. I've had nothing but trouble with the four Nokia kits I've had.

If your kit is the same as mine (A4 2003) then Nokia 6230/6230i will fit. I decided to change the phone instead of changing the adapter (to some bluetooth) because that phone is ok and original adapter is also the charger.

Hi at the risk of being 16 years to late! I have just bought an A4 2003 with a CARK-91 kit fitted. Before seeing this thread I thought it might be a Nokia 5110 that worked. It doesn't by the way. However, after reading this thread, I don't know if it's the phone or the CARK-91 that is faulty. Any ideas please.

As per my 15 year old post, the CARK-91 is so old that Alec Issigonis had one fitted in his 1959 Austin Mini. Open the control box and you'll find it full of thermionic glass valves connected to a crystal radio set.

Congratulations though on being able to cope with a phone so old and dumb I'm not even sure if it has Bluetooth. I'd suggest at the very least buy a Bluetooth car kit and chuck the CARK-91 in a skip. You might need a newer phone to go with it.
