Whilst having a poke around the engine on my 1.8se (1999) APT engine today I noticed a wire with a two pin plug at the end dangling loose under the intake manifold. The pin is pink/purple in colour and has a retaining clip attached to it.

The wire seems to come from a two wire loom where one branches off to a connection on the sump or just above it (oil pressure/level??) Having looked high and low I cant seem to find anywhere that this second wire goes!!

The car drives fine and no warning lights are on, I've checked the expansion tank and around the fans etc but cant seem to pin point where it goes!

    Any pointers please.....

    Thanks

Had another look, definitely a green wire with a yellow stripe and a smaller brown wire with a white stripe. The two wires go into a 2 pin plug which has a retaining clip and a rubber grommet/sheath at the top.

    thanks for the help

Hi Green on yellow is usually the positive wire for different componenter in the engine bay and brown on white is the earth connection to a receiver (control unit).Since your engine is running fine dont worry.I have come across the same thing before.it might be they use the same harness to other engines which has a component which your engie has not got
