    Hi,

How do I know if I have an immobilzer? I seem to be getting the symptoms of it being faulty if so, but how do I know if I have one??

Car wont start but will turnover fine. On some occasions in the past it has run for a few moments then stopped dead - typical of an immobilzer fault.

If I leave the car for a few hours, sometimes it will run straight away, then for days and days fine, then rufuse to start again one day.

When in fault condition, the fuel pump does not run although there is 12v clearly appearing at the relay as the ignition is turned on. I have opened the relay and manually closed the contacts to switch the 12v to the pump and it runs - but still the car doesn't start.

Hence, I think the immobilizer is killing other circuits besides the fuel relay.

    Anyone any ideas?

Thanks for the offer however; 1) I do have the vag-com software and diagnostics cable for my OBDll socket and 2) I live in Vancouver B.C. so I guess there would be a hefty charge for you getting over here...

Hi Yes you have an immobilizer, usually when at fault, the engine starts but runs only a few seconds (not a few minutes) what you need is a diagnose of the engine management
