What, where and how - VAG COM 00550 error

Hi there,

Have a boost issue and loss of power under load at 3000rpm....

Error code
00550 Start of injection regulation
17 - 10 control difference
intermitent

Code someone please tell me what this is and where it is in the engine bay?
Is this my power loss problem?

Hi Control difference = Commencement of injection valve (N108) defective - Needle lift sender (G80) defective- Fuel supply not OK., reduced fuel - Start of delivery not OK.The first thing you need to do is dynamically check the commencement of injection this will indicate if (N108) is ok.

The fault code means that the ECU is not able to manage (adapt) the injection timing correctly.

The first thing to do is get any fault codes read, and check the basic mechanical (static injection) timing.

Check the electrical connector on injector 3 (G80 needle lift sensor)

'Start of injection' valve N108 could be defective (in pump).

Could also be caused by air in the system (has been run out of fuel etc)

Thanks for your replies...

Had a look around the engine bay and the injection side of things. Nothing, I'm going in to an audi specialist thursday so hopefully should be able to help.

Any ideas why I can hear the turbo whilsting on tick over too? Leaking or broken hose?
