Good afternoon motorists, I'm trying to find out if it's possible to extinguish the 'SERVICE NOW' light which comes on when you first put the key in a Golf MK4's ignition.
I had my car serviced in December but they haven't reset it and it annoys me each time it keeps coming on, is it possible I can reset it myself without any specialist equipment?

you get the light sorted? i think them links over complicate what you need to do, or maybe its just the lingo they use.

you have two buttons, one next to the rev counter and the other next to the speedo.

turn ignition on (do not start engine)
    hold right hand button down
keep right hand button depressed and switch ignition off
turn ignition back on as in step 1 still with the button still depressed
    release the right hand button
twist the left hand button to the right.

that should sort it, did on my mk4 golf 1.8t. think it may only work with the blue dash with red dials

Thanks mate that does simplify things, most places I've looked show pictures of either a Bora or the European dashboard with different reset buttons but your tips are perfect.
I've got the blue and red dials so I'll give it a go tomorrow along with the MAF replacement and debadge of the weapon!

    Thanks again

    Andy

I didn't hear anything else from him, have you got the same problem? I've got an 03 Golf MK4 1.9 GT TDi 130bhp and used the tips Shleng posted and it worked a treat I no longer get the Service Now light come on.

No, I didn't have a problem, I was just curious as to whether there may have been one, but thanks for the info, I have the same Golf as you
