    Hi all

bit of a dull first post, but I'm looking to replace my ageing A3 1.8T Sport with (probably) an A4. When I got the A3, I think all 1.8T engines were 150bhp, but now I'm seeing on autotrader that there are 163bhp variants, and even 190bhp ones.

I was just wondering if anyone could outline what different outputs the various 1.8T engines and the 2.0 / 2.0T engines have? I don't really mean the newer FSI engines but the ones from around 2000 to 2003 approx. Thanks

P.S. I did have a look on google but couldn't find a definitive list.

The early 1.8T engines in the A4 B6 model were 150bhp too, with 163bhp variants appearing quite quickly. The 190bhp versions appeared in the s-line models in 2004. The standard 2.0 puts out 143bhp I believe which didnt change until the FSi came out which was after your 2003 date range in any case! The 2.0T is a new engine for the B7 model so again wasnt out in your date range!

thanks. The reason I ask is that I had my A3 remapped to 205-ish bhp, so I think it going back to a 150bhp model would be too much of a wrench now. Hence trying to look out for A4's with at least the 163bhp engine.

S3/S4 would be nice but only the ones with >9 0k miles are within my budget

You could always re-map the A4, 163 to 200+ and 190 to 240+, mixed with the six speed manual box should liven things up a tad!!
