hello please can someone help! my wife drives a 2007 fox and the problem is that her fob key (central locking) no longer works although the key still works. i have received 2 second hand fobs from a keys specialist but none will programme to the car using the manual instructions or internet guides? the key has no serial number on it except for 0907 which is displayed on the fob part. the key specialist is now stuck on what to try next except to buy from vw although £40 aint to bad but £15 for a second hand fob appears better the 2 fobs that i have tried didn't even secure to the horseshoe part? can anyone advice what fob i need thanks

    I have a 9n3 polo and a 5z fox.
I also have a VAG-COM and both Factory Service Manuals.
I have also driven myself mad trying to reprogramme a new key to work with my Fox.
    I now know....
    9n3 Polo uses a fob-type key with 434Mhz circuit.
5z Fox uses lolipop-type key with 433Mhz circuit.
A Polo fob-type key will therefore not be programmed to open the doors on a Fox.
If your original key has stopped working then maybe you need a new battery.
    Dealer wants £25.
Screwfix charge £4.99 for a pack of 2.
Use a medium scredriver and pull the lolipop apart. Sepearate halves to reveal battery.
Remember, there are three parts to a VW radio key.
    The blade (unique, precision cut).
The central locking (uses the battery).
The grain of rice size concealed transponder held in the plastic mould near the top of the blade.
If you get an other Fox radio key of the same type then it is possible to reprogramme the central locking.
I you want advice on how to do this then please reply.

    Good luck.

    thanks for your reply!
the fob has been tested and is knackered. yes the key is the lollypop type 433mhz but which one as the key specialist said it should be one of two but having tried both, none work? have you got a number on your key?

My 2009 Fox Radio Key has W9 stamped on the blade as well as the usual HAA and Huf (all Polo/Fox keys I have seen have HAA on one side and Huf on the other).
I have seen pictures of the two types of keys. My one has padlock symbols on the buttons.
Assuming you can get a working radio circuit in your key, then you need to know how to programme it.
You can use your spare (non-radio) key in the ignition and follow the instructions in the Factory Service Manual; see attached image of the page.

    Hope it works.

For reference HAA is just the shape of the key blade.
