What would the signs be of a Turbo needing changing?

25% loss in power. Don't feel the turbo surge so much in 1st and 2nd Gear.

You can feel the tourqe in 3rd but its not as strong....

You need a Fault Code scan.

See if there are any obvious causes of the power loss.

I unplugged the air mass sensor. And was all back to normal.

Air mass sensor is attached to the air box. It's a tube with an element in. There is an electrical conector attatched to it.

Air Box --> Air Mass Sensor --> Pipe --> Turbo

Unplug the air mass sensor and go for a drive. You have to squeeze the catch quite hard to get it off.

Error lights will appear on the dash. Put your foot down and see what happens....

If you can, you might want to get the error codes cleared off afterwards. Find someone with the machine to do it. eg vag-com, X431 etc etc..
