    Hello all,
I have a 02 plate Audi A3 Tdi sport which has recently been stood for 1 week while I was away on holiday.
When I returned the remote central locking would not operate and the alarm was playing up when I attempted to lock the car with the key.
Since then the central locking has refused to work even with the key or the button inside the car. Also the interior light does not come on when the doors are opened although it will switch on manually from inside the car.
Also the electric windows will not operate from either door.

I have checked all of the fuses which appear to be ok.
The hazard warning light switch is faulty and awaiting a replacement.
Could this be related to the problem ?

Does anybody have any suggestions or advise ?

Having disconnected the electrics going to the central locking unit in the boot to try and rectify a siren problem, I ended up in a similar position to yours. I suggest the central locking unit (housed in a sponge cover in the boot - left side behind the side panel) is at fault. The unit has 3 electrical connectors and 2 air leads.

    Thanks for the reply.

Did you eventually fix the problem?
If so, how and at what cost ?

I've been advised that the problem could also be cause by raining in to the passenger footwell.
Apparently the damage would be done before you would notice the raining in.

It's booked in with the local dealer in 2 weeks time so i'm hoping that somebody may have a solution before that. ( Although I have been promised a courtesy car...........new S3 or is that just wishful thinking ?????

Hi, my problem was based around the siren being at fault due to its battery being flat. I replaced that, not the central locking unit. The new siren cost £70. The siren and the central locking unit are both located in the boot, behind the nearside wheel well and the light cluster.
