Can't Get My Polo fuel cap cover to lock!

I have recently disconnected my battery, and upon reconnection my fuel cap locking system has gone haywire! The only way I can get it to lock into position is to hold the cover in place and lock the car, this locks the cap shut, however as soon as I unlock the car the cover pops open! Therefore leaving me no option but to drive round with the cover blowing in the wind! I am guessing the locking system needs resetting following the battery being reconnected, however I am at a complete loss as to how, given there is no mention of it in the manual. Please help - its driving me insane having to hold in the fuel cap cover to lock it each time I lock the car!

I have recently posted a similar query to yours. Did you ever get it sorted out? I'd appreciate it if you could let me know how you hopefully sovled your problem.
