Audio controls around steering wheel

Hi

I have an Audi A4 Avant although no audio controls around the wheel which drives me a bit nuts as i am used to this on other cars i have had!!

Can audio controls be added around the steering wheel or can I add a steering wheel with the controls (as on the SLine etc). The stereo is a Concert single din (if you know what i mean)

Anybody rough idea on price, does it have to be an audi fit?

I also have no armrest but i know i can buy and fit this myself, albeit at a cost of around £125 unless anyone know of a place cheaper!

Yes you can retrofit the multi-function steering wheel, but general reports seem to say its a bit of a hassle so not often done. Its something that should be done professionally however to ensure the airbag system is coded properly and not installed incorrectly. Speak to your local VAG specialist about it as the main dealers will charge you a fortune! As for the armrest, they often come up on ebay c£40-50 so keep an eye out there if I were you.

never seen an arm rest tha tcheap, i see them going for £120 + (in leather anyway) I want 1 ile just have to fork out for one i guess.

I know what you mean about the armrest... I was looking on ebay for one for a long time, lots of non audi ones there for cheap. I eventually bit the bullet and bought a genuine one for £120. was a lot of money at the time, but if i'm honest with you, the best thing i've bought for my A4 yet, makes driving so much more comfortable... Took about an hour to fit myself, not too awkward and instruction come with armrest so easy enough to follow. The only complaint i might have is that the armrest kind of gets in the way of the handbrake, meaning that when you pull up the handbrake, it hits off the base of the armrest. and also pulling handbrake on with armrest down means you have to make a rather limp risted motion with your arm...
having said that, it was well worth it so i'd just go for it and get the genuine article. build quality is excellent on the genuine stuff and it also gives some really handy storage too...
