    just had the light come on to replace the pads, what do you recomend i do , go to volskwagen ,or to my local garage who is a trusted mechanic although basic , will he be able to get the warninglight removed just by replacing the brakes or will he need a computer or some electronic device?

    Hi. I've just replaced my front brakes pads for my Sharan 2001-1.9TDi in my "trusted mechanic although basic" and the warning light went away. The pads have a wire that is cut when the pads are in the end, and when you replace the pads the new wire is connected and the warning light is disabled.
    It's a easy and simple procedure.

    yes thanks for the reply, can get the pads for £ 33 plus vat, that seem a resonable price?

    Well, i dont know the price in GB, here in Portugal they cost me 80€ with taxes, so its about the same.

    seems ok now he did the job but they are still squeaking so going to put a new question up next on how to stop that
