Hi everyone - just joined the forum and hope to be of help to someone in the future. Just had my 2004 A6 Avant serviced at a local garage for the first time - 120k miles - and they couldn't do a scheduled gear box oil change because they didn't have an anti tamper driver to fit the drain plug.
Any ideas where I can get one or a non franchised garage that will do the oil change in Sheffield or around.

    Jim,

I got seriously unhappy about the rip-off price for a CVT oil change at my local dealer (hint - they might be the nearest to where you live). I found an independant who could do the next one "just like a normal car" but it breaks my heart to say it's not that simple and the next 40k change will be at an Audi specialist.

Check out the threads on here - you'll find that it is special high price oil, special equipment for filling and a defined procedure which includes measuring oil temperature and cycling the gearbox as it is filled.

If Swift Autos do all this then you've hit a good seam (as we say in these parts).

Otherwise, you'll need to find someone who can. I got a decent price from Indie-Tech but they are in Milton Keynes. Also, there is an independant Audi specialist in Chesterfield who might do it.

If you get stuck with having to use a dealer, phone around. My (your) local place was the most expensive by far.

Thank for the advice. I have contacted Swifts - 0114 270 0124 - and if their customer service is anything to go by I can look forward to being well looked after.

They have quoted £125 inc VAT which is substantially better than main dealer prices - the last one was £150 just for the oil.

Thanks again and will let you know how it goes - it is not due for another 10k miles.

    Jim

    hi mate,

i had my cvt gearbox oil change at indie teck in milton keynes,
they are very good at what they do much better that AUDI it self.
    the prices are good aswell
i had some problems with the oil they found water in it, i had to change the oil cooler aswell, they did that no problem

at the same time i had full service done and cambelt kit, water pump and some other stuff done

any way i would recommend indie tech.

    thanks for reading,

    ili
