    Hello folks,

I'm living in Holland and my 1988 Coupe Quattro has just failed the Dutch MOT. The local garage has quoted an extorionate price to do the work to get it through. Needs a complete exhaust system as some muppet fitted an after market system which leaks everywhere. Also need a suspension mount and lower ball joints. A few other minor things like bulbs. The estimated cost is 1,500 euros. Was told it's about 10hours work. Obviously the fella i spoke to doesn't want to do the work - so i'm thinking of driving it to the UK to get it sorted. Can anyone recommend a decent Audi specialist in the South East - suffolk, cambs or essex? Plus does anyone know how much the above parts should cost?

    Thanks
    Raz

He must be a slow worker, I could do that lot in less than 10 hours without garage facilities.
The top mounts are approx £12 and I think your balljoint might be the rarer two bolt type, but even so should not be more than say £30?
You could shop around for the exhaust, custom autocraft have a range in stainless that look nice I have no experience of them myself

or you could try eurocarparts/GSF/Vagparts etc, see if you can find a genuine/o.e. supplier system.

Sorry I don't know of anywhere in the south east.

    Cheers Scotty,

Just as i thought then - the geezer in my local garage here just can't be bothered to do the work. Think i'll definitely bring car home to UK. There's no way i'm gonna give anyone here over a grand to do the work. Although i was told that i need to have the CO emissions sorted out and that could be a bit pricey.

Engine code. Not sure what you mean?
    It's on the paper work as 2,3 20v U9.
The guy said the U9 represents the electronic fuel injection - is that what you meant?

If it's a 2.3 20v it should be a 7A engine code, I just wondered which engine type you had. If the plugs, leads, airfilter etc are healthy, the emissions could be due to an ECU temp sender problem, lambda probe or maybe maf sensor problem? These should show up on a fault code read, you could do this yourself with a home made reader:

    Maybe this advice could help?
