airbag light on?? vagcom in the highlands???

does anyone know where i can check out why the airbag light is on?
i'm near inverness and aint sure where to go and how much it'll cost me.
i'd rather not use the ******** for obvious high cost obnoxious gits reasons...
the airbag light has been on since i bought my w reg mk4 golf red i gti and the mot is due soon.
is this mot failure?
i'm pretty sure its something to do with the passenger seat, as the clip is 2inches shorter than the drivers side plus its wrapped up in tape????

Mine is on as well although this happened after i bought my car, it means the airbag has been locked so it won't go off if you have an accident (i don't mind as i'm not sure i trust airbags as i was in an accident once and mine didn't even go off anyway) -note - different car. Anyway when i took it to the garage they did a VAGCOM check and the crash censor under the drivers seat has failed due to the wire being disconnected, the wires for the airbag run under the seat in the actual runners and over time adjustment of the seat can slice through the wires causing the circuit to break. Another common place for the censor to fail is the ring around the steering wheel (great)! Anyway i was quoted £160 to get it fixed which i declined and my car has been through 2 MOT's with this light on! It's not in their list to check!

Well i got no probs with warning lights etc but would be handy to know someone with VAGCOM in or near Inverness as i hate using the ******** too (dirty thieving gypsy buggers)

hey hows it going im from inverness but im in glasgow for 2 weeks!! but you do realise you can buy a usb obd 2 cable which connects from your car to your laptop for around 20 pound sometimes with\without the software. then you can clear the fault yourself... i had the same problem and cleared the fault twice and it hasnt come back since....

Its the 130.
Not done anything major to it.
Put the wee lip spoiler from R32 on back, got the usual boring
s4 17" alloys.
Looking at doing the W8 light, Maybe get the R32 kit for inside,
looking at getting the blue led for the alarm aswell.
Not wanting to do anything to major yet as funds are seriously low at moo.
Although Autosave have the replica 18" RS4 alloys that look brill.
I changed the headlight bulbs to Philips xtreme at wekend but not driven at night since so dont know if made any big diff or not. waiting for the blue led sidelight bulbs, should be here tmrw.
Would love to get the Smoked angel eye headlights but again funds dont allow it.
Done anything to yours??

eh ive not long bought the car so... but its got 18 rs alloys which im happy with....only plan really is a remap/chip to get a wee bit more out of her

but am the same with the funds

so that wont be for a wile yet
