    Hi
Can any one advise me. I need to change my track rod end ball joint. Have removed the adjuster bolt and undone the pinch bolt nut, what I am not sure about is do I need to remove the pinch bolt as it seem to be jammed. Help

When you say the pinch bolt do you mean the threaded bolt at the end of the track rod that connects with the hub? If so you will need a ball joint splitter to drive it upwards as the shaft is conical (or hit it with a hammer if you're a bit of a pikey)

I heated it up (the housing not the bolt) and then hit it with a lug hammer after refitting the nut until it was in line with the pinch bolt.

Hello ... did you ever manage to remove the pinch nut bolt? Does it need to be removed? I am trying to change the track rod end ball joint ... I think I have the same problem you had. It looks like I somehow need to get the pinch nut bolt out but it's proving difficult. Any tips??

    Cheers

Are you referring to the bolt in the picture below? I.e. the track rod end bolt?

These often get rusted and sieze and you will struggle to remove them, you may need to cut through the bolt&nut underneath with an angle grinder or similar and replace the whole track rod end

    Hi

Thanks for getting back to me. I was actually referring to the pinch bolt in the housing that the track rod end fits into. the bolt had seized in the housing... I managed to get it out using a subtle blend of cunning and a dirty great hammer!!

    Thanks again.
