    Hi there

Pretty basic stuff here, but I'd be interested to hear if anyone has done an upgrade on a TDi PD, and what sort of performance/economy/money is involved.

    Cheers, Andy

Firstly, chipping isn't really used anymore, its now ECU remapping these days. Haven't had this done myself but I believe the 100pd engines can be safely remapped to around 135/140bhp with an increase in torque of around 60 lb ft. They usually cost around £300. As for fuel economy, in the majority of cases most people would find if you drive normally then your fuel economy will actually improve after a remap, however if you're very heavy with the right foot then you may notice a slight drop in mpg as well. There are a couple of users on this forum who do remaps such as chip-n-spin or RS tuning, hopefully they'll maybe add something to what I've already written

Basically what Chris said above is correct. I'm based near London and am a mobile dealer. We arte having a Remap and Rolling Road day at chipped UK on the 10th Feb @ CHipped UK in Bromsgrove near Birmingham if this is better for you. Please see link in my Signature for details.

Gains on the PD100 are about 40hp and 70nm torque.

    Cheers, Mark

You can get tuning boxes for the 100pd i have one in mine and although gains are not huge about 15-25bhp the car feels and pulls better, i now have 222lb/ft of torque and they cost half the price of a Remap and can be sold on.

So get a remap and no money can be made back on it

get a Van Aitken etc tuning box and it can be removed in 5min and vice versa and can be sold on when no longer required.

I'd just like to point out that you need to be careful as some of the cheaper tuning boxes an nothing more than a resistor that fools that car into over fueling (and can cause issues in the long run). To get a tuning box that will come close to a remap you need to be looking at around £300+, even these though (in my opinion) are no match for a remap.

But like you said you do have the ability to transfer or sell on the unit.

    Thanks, Mark
