    Hi

We've just bought a Golf Match 1.6. My question is about the iPod preparation and which iPods fit and which ones don't...

The iPod preparation manual doesn't list the iPod classic 80 GB as one that fits.
It lists two ipods that aren't compatable... It probably doesn't include the 80 GB on either list, because it proabably wasn't available when the manual was printed in April 2006.

Does anyone know whether it will fit? I don't wanna go and buy one and find that it doesn't...

    Thanks.

If you have it, then it should come with a load of plastic bits (holders?) which are meant to hold the Ipod steady when it's put onto the connector in the armrest, I've tried all of mine to fit a 5G Ipod Video (30G) and none fit it, so it slots onto the connector and sits there precariously, which is not the best solution or ideal, but it works & I don't know where you can get any of additional plastic (holders?) so that it fits securely in place.

Does anyone here know if a company does them?

I have to do the same thing as Wazza_G as I have an iPhone and VW don't ship the car with a plastic insert for that size (although maybe they'll be available later). The other problem is that the height of the iPhone (and the new iPod touch) means the armrest doesn't close fully as it hits the top of the phone. The armrest needs to be closed fully for the height adjust mechanism to engage so a big iPod or iPhone prevents this. Bit annoying but this was probably designed well before Apple's new range came out.
