Since doing some tests on my battery today i seem to have created another problem! My bootlid wont open via the central locking system. It will only open maually. The boot lid button on the key fob does nothing (not sure if it did before as i never used it).

I'm aware you can disengage the bootlid from the central locking by setting the lock in a certain position but i have tried all of this and to no avail. This shouldn't be the issue anyway as it was working perfectly well before i run the battery tests for a drainage problem.

While the multimeter was on the battery i wanted to open the boot and this is when i discovered the problem. I'm pretty sure the doors were unlocked at the time. I opened it manually and the alarm went off.

Anyhow, all the central locking system works fine, just the boot lid. Any ideas on what has happened here? A real bugger as we use the boot all the time for pushchairs etc.

    Cheers...

Did yours suddenly stop working as well or has it always been that way?

it just stopped working all of a sudden, i can definately remember it working independently from the central locking.

Ok so I tried it again this morning and I have found that if you press and hold the boot release button for a few seconds (about 2-3 secs) it causes the boot to open, this is independent of the central locking.

I tried this earlier but to no avail

Hang on, when you say "boot release button" do you mean the key fob button or the actual catch on the car? I tried the catch on the car. Mrs has gone out in it so can't test the fob.

I think the motor has gone in it. Do you know if there is a seperate fuse for the boot lid?

Answering my own question re fuse, i've looked in the manual and come up with these:

fuse 38: central electrics unit for convenience equipment/boot lid release. and fuse 35: luggage compartment socket. Will check when the mrs gets home... fingers crossed!

I found another thread re this problem on a passat. The motor had burnt out and the guy was quoted Ł200 for a new one. Stuff that, i'd rather just use the key!
