Are there any "must do mods" for the A4? I see a lot of people retrofit cruise. Anything else you reccomend?

put in basic terms, reprogramming the computer to increase performance of the car, ie getting more horsepower from the engine... Can also increase fuel economy, depending on how the car is driven afterwards.
Haven't done it myself, but know someone who had thier Passat increased from 130 BHP to 150+ i think, made a big difference to acceleration, although it fairly drank deisel when you put the foot down...

Got mine from ebay, should be plenty on there. just had a look and they all seem to be about £140... pretty sure mine was £120, but they might have gone up since then...
Tyr your local dealer and see what they are asking, might work out less once you consider postage etc...

Best of luck with it. Just make sure you get the right model, because the earlier models will not fit.
