    Hey guys,

My cars just been into the garage for some repairs, all of which went really well, but to my dismay the mechanic told me that the big engine cover underneath to stop water and grit splashing up is missing.

I obviously need to get a new one to replace it but my golf is a 3 door, and wondered if the cover will be the same for both 3 and 5 door golfs before I travel down to the breakers and try and get a used one.

Any info will be greatly received.

    Cheers

No, there definitely wasn't a cover there when it went in for repairs I can remember looking under the car before it went in, I just didn't realise there was supposed to be one.

It must have been ripped off or lost before I got the car, only had it 4 months.

Why would he if it was missing?

Can't see anything that would say they're different in my Haynes Manual. Phone up VW and ask them for the price for one, they'll be able to tell you if they're different depending on the model.

Ah okay, I read it as though it was there before it went into the garage.

    Cheers wyatt I will do.

I think they are probably the same as it's only the rear end of the two cars look slightly different, extra doors etc..

Don't bother, it not to keep the engine clean, just reduce engine noise and make changing the oil difficult
