Hi, I know, I know, before you even say it,"search the threads", tried that got the T'shirt, so I'm askin again
Right I have fitted a new cd player in my '99 A3 tdi, complete with full fitting kit(aerial connector, loom for half amped rears ), powered up the aerial "filter" but still nothing from the radio no matter where I tune it to.
Plug in the concert head unit and radio comes straight on.
Heres the question does the aerial amp pick up a live feed somewhere else on the multiplugs from the back of the concert head unit, there is the original sticker on it but its German abbreviations,Hmm, no help at all really.
Please help if you can folks there must be someone who comes on here who works at VW/Audi and has access to the manufacturers wiring diagrams and can help with the wiring colour coding.
    Anyway thanks for looking
    Tom

Ok...Update on the aerial saga. After many hours trawling the www and fiddling with different wiring configs on the car I have just found out that the new brand CD/MP3 head unit I am fitting has a faulty radio receiver. I found this out by refitting the original Concert unit minus aerial connector and found that I had reception, improved greatly by just sticking my finger on the aerial socket back of radio.
I then plugged in an old cd player I had in another car and that powered straight up, radio reception not bad, I then plugged in the aerial wire minus the power adapter bit and perfect reception across the board.
This tells me two things 1: just because its new doesn't mean it not gonna be faulty 2: I have just wasted 10 quid on an adapter I didnt need as it appears on my car, 99 A3 1.9TDi 110 se Bose half amplified system, doesn't have any kind of aerial amp. and doesnt need power to it to work.
Well thats the end of my ramble and I hope this helps some other ppl with their probs.
    Cheers
    Tom
