Hi folks, this is my first post.

I've just got my car back from Audi Poole where they were fixing my rear windscreen washer as something had gone wrong and the boot was soaked wet with washer fluid & water and stinking like dirty laundry.
I've just gone out to the car since picking it up and noticed that the boot light was flashing on the driver display so i got out the car and went to close the boot and its won't shut. It's like the mechanism wont click and stay shut...the boot just bounces and stays open

I've got a 300 mile drive to do tomorrow with a dog in the boot and everything is massivley up in the air because of this. Im planning to get into Poole Audi first thing and ask them to recitfy what it could be but in the event they try and fob me off is there anything you guys can reccomend as im near crying point with frustration?

Its an Audi A6 1.9 tdi estate on an 02 plate.

    many thanks!
    Roland

Audi Poole are a bit of a ***********, but I think they will be pretty gutted at this...

    Good luck!

This might be too late by the time you read it, but worth trying anyway.

On just about any car by any manufacturer, it is possible to get the boot locking cam partially closed so that when you slam the boot, the cam is already "closed" and it just slams down on the wrong side of the U-shaped latch.

Result - boot just bounces open again.

If it is this then the cure is simple, just unlock the boot and "open" the boot lock using the handle. You should hear a clunk as the cam goes back into its open position.

I hope this works, and it helps. If not, its definately time to persecute a dealer.

Another common fault is something like a carpet, or boot rubber preventing the boot shutting.

Check the rubber and rear panel for being in correct place.

even stopping the boot closing by as little as 5mm will prevent the catch making. They may of had rear panel off to check your fault.
