EGR valve

Hi

just had my 1.9TDI 130bhp Passat serviced and VW advised that the EGR valve was leaking. Can anyone tell me what this is and how much it should cost to replace.

if you mean oil is leaking from small hole at top/side of valve,forget it....they all leak its harmless.

I just had the same advice from VW and they want £304 to replace it.....I think I'll leave it or disconnect it and put a screw in it!

So this is common and not serious? I have just been advised by a main dealer to have mine replaced as it has 'gone' so to speak. They want £79 labour and £127 for the part. Can a 10mm screw really sort it out? I hope so cos I'm a real cheapskate.

dont replace anything just take it out and clean it maybe its full of root(smoke) and put it back again it will do some 30.000 klm without liking but you have to do the same process every 30.000 thats it dont listen to this people....goed luck
