Retro Fit Cruise Control & Auto Hold..?

Is it possible to have the main dealer fit genuine VW cruise control and auto-hold on a Passat B6 that doesn't currently have the features fitted..?

I bought a new Passat 2.0 TDi Sport last year and like a true Yorkshireman, I didn't dig deep enough and specify these options when I had chance..!

Now my father-in-law has got a new Passat with cruise and auto-hold, and I've had a proper go with them, I want them on my motor..!!

So, is it possible to have them retro-fitted ?

If so , any ideas of cost..?

It is possible to fit cruise control and I am not sure about auto-hold. My cruise control will be fitted as soon my dealer can get me in.

Do you know if the dealer fitted cruise control works like the factory fitted option and shows the info in the red "computer" between the speedo and rev counter..?

Yes, cruise control can be fitted, I've had it done and yes the display on the dashboard works the same as factory fit. Cost me £150 dealer fit but they made a slight mistake and charged me what it would be to fit a Golf. Apparently passat's can have two types of wiring and prices do vary according to this (This was confirmed when I phoned VW themselves).

Retro fit auto hold cannot be fitted (according to my dealer).

I am not sure on that. When it is fitted I will let you know. At the moment the master technician who fits them is off ill so lets hope for his quick recovery.

Just one other question. When the dealers fit the new stalk, does it include a new cowl where the cruise stalk fits onto the steering column..?

Please tell me they don't hack the plastic with a saw or something..!!

Yes. this resulted in my car being kept over night as they hadn't ordered that part and had to get it 'next day'. They lent me a Tiguan over night free of charge which was quite nice!!

I'll go and take some pics if its still light enough outside.
