    Hi,

I am trying to install a VW Gamma v5 head unit in my 1997 passat. the older Gamma unit ISO connections are all still in place, however when i plug these into the newer head unit, it does not power on. The head unit sends power to the CD changer, and the red "button lights" work when the cars lights are on, but the unit will not turn on or show anything on the display.

I know the head unit is fully working, so i guess there must be some changes that need to be done to the wiring into the head unit...

Has anyone else ever fitted a Gamma V5 head unit in an older VW? or does anyone know how i can get this working?

    Cheers

    Simon

you might have tried this, have you checked the 12v switched lile feed is on the same wire on the old and new plugs and the 12v continuous wires are the same on both sides of the plugs....had this happen to me the wires were the wrong way around.....i hope this makes sense...
    cheers

    Lee,

It was exactly as you described. The Switched feed and the constant feed were in the wrong places on the original plug. I simply swapped them over and it's working a treat.

    Cheers
