hi everyone would appreciate comments/ advice on the following

can an air flow meter really fail after 10,000 genuine miles on a 2.0 tdi passat estate/ could the turbo have coked up this soon mainly used for urban driving/ is the related to the service that seemed to precipitate the fault???

car running perfectly until first ever service at main dealer, after a bit less smooth on accelerating in retrospect but main problem occurred 4 days after service, after 300 mile journey- loud pop, lots of black smoke and no acceleration above 40-50mph

vw road side replaced turbo pipe suggested problem related to service

on return journey car sluggish when trying to accelerate 24-30 rpm at 70mph with moderate amounts black smoke

garage suggest air flow meter taking car to do diagnostic say its nothing to do with service

cars covered by manufacturers guarantee so i have no dispute with garage but seems a bit too much of a cooincidence to me and im disappointed that my fabby car appears to have been unrelaible

any comments ??
