    there is a problem with my EGR valve it is the one with the nylon gears in and it has got a motor in it if i disconnect the wire connector to the EGR would it cause any damage to the engine because it runs alright with it disconnected but the emission control light is always on please advise

    This must be a later engine. The unit with the gears is the anti shudder shut down flap and not the EGR valve, that is the unit before it. You should not disconnect the flap unit as it is the emergency shut off system should the engine experience runaway which is very scary believe me!

    it is a BLB engine audi 2.0 tdi a6 2004

    You must replace the flap unit and the fuse it may have blown.
