    Hi Guys,

First post on here (sorry its long winded) and hoping my question will be answered.

I have a 2001 (last of the B5 chassis) 2.4, V6 petrol which is due its service next week.

since purchasing from an Audi Dealership back in 2004 i have had it serviced by Audi as it was running the longlife service. Its now well and truly out of Audi warranty period and this time round i want my brother-in-laws mechanic friend to service it as in the past i have loathed paying out £380+ for an "audi" variable service.

I do very little mileage in the car approx 5-7000 miles/year.

I have read if you reset the service interval indicator via the instrument cluster it will revert a longlife service (if one is being run) to a fixed service on the D.I.S.

Perfect! this is what i wanted to do anyway : move from a variable to fixed service period.

Will this cause any poblems making the change? Will the service indicator on the D.I.S just tick down from 9500 miles once the mechanic resets it?

He will be carrying out a full service to include :
    • oil/oil filter change - refill with Castrol Edge 5W/30 oil
    • air & pollen filter change
    • spark plugs changed
    • brake fluid change
    • coolant replaced
anything else i should have him do?
