I am at a loss. My beloved A4 1.9 TDi 130 bhp is having problems, it is a 2002 model. You turn the ignition and the revs die out until it stalls. When you manage to keep it running (under 30 mph), as it tries to die again, thick stinking grey smoke belches from the exhaust until it cuts out again. Had the air mass meter done approx 12-18 months ago. Tried 3 more but they are not the cause of the fault. My man has told me to take it to Audi and get it on the diagnostic. He says there is a little 'play' in the turbo but not enough to cause these problems. Now it just about runs but is clanking under the bonnet, something sounds like its grinding and I don't like it. It is still at the garage where it has been all week. This is the third time in since end november 07. Thought it was burning oil but it was serviced last week and oil level is fine. Any suggestions??
