I have a 2004 A4 with Navplus MIN031110_EN0303 Audi Sat Nav and up until recently it has been exceptional. Here's the however - sporadically the system sends an error message saying that the DVD needs to be inserted, or cannot be read. I have cleaned the original disc with a suitable cloth and there are no scratches. Strangely, if I turn the car off for a few hours, it will be useable once again. Has anybody experienced anything similar to these problems and if so, how were the problems resolved?
My local Audi dealership feel that a diagnostic check will find the fault, but they had the car last month, did a diagnostic check and found now faults. Help

Not sure if it would help in this situation, but have you tried a lens cleaner disc? It is possible the lens in the DVD reader is causing the problem, but then again it might not help. Worth a try maybe as these things are only cheap.

Thanks for your advice, any ideas what kind of shop sells these lens cleaning disks? Well definately give this a go, as Audi want £100 for a diagnostic test and their feeling is that system has packed up and will cost £500 to replace just for the part.

eBay will have them, or any office supply shop should stock them. They are only a few pounds so a lot less than an Audi diagnostic check.

Just to give some feedback, the lense cleaning disc appears to have worked at a cost of £5.99 from WH Smith, which is much better than Audi's £100 'Just to have a look'!! I did email Audi customer service regarding my problems and they are yet to respond. Thanks for all your help.

Good news, Audi make me sick, £120 just to look then more labour and parts once diagnosed. Charge their labour by the hour at £120, complete joke.

i think car manufacturers are tryting to go the same way as the aircraft industry.

they sell cars that dont make much profit, but their spares and maintenance charges on those vehicles make up their main profits.

£120 per hour is ludicrous imo.
