Once upon a time there was a man named Otis.

He started his lovely shiny 1.9tdi B6 Audi and started driving, when all of a sudden a load of water came down from the drivers footwell soaking his feet.

I carried on driving then all of a sudden, all the dash lights came on, Engine flashed up of the dash and car just cut out.

Got the AA out and they checked car, the ECU box was half full with water. I guess there was a leak into it that had been filling over a period of time. Luckily the ECU itself hadnt got wet, but when i removed it, the Cube shaped relays under the ECU were covered it Rusty Coloured water which suggests they had rotted out inside.

I managed to dry out the ECU box with a sponge and a hair dryer. I put the ECU itself in airing cupboard for a couple of days just incase it was wet.

When all was dry i connected the ECU back up, and when i turn key, the car tries to start, but doesnt start. It makes a noise like its trying, but doesnt start.

Im guessing the Relays may have been damaged, but then again im not mechanic.

Can anyone offer me any advice on what make have been damaged here?

    Regards and thanks in advance

    Otis

Do you know where the water came form or was this due to an overflow of a blocked up Plenum Chamber. Search for this on here and you will see all the info you require. Regards Peter

I removed the housing cover for my ECU so that i could run ,y Amp cable into the drivers footwell.

From the looks of it, i dont think i screwed the casing back down properly !! Doh!!

This is how i think the water got inside.
