    Hi

I am thinking of getting an LPG Autogas conversion but am worried about the increasing cost of the fuel (after shelling out for the conversion will it still be worth it).

Have you had it done and more importantly, what price are you currently paying per litre for LPG (please state where in the UK you are).

    Thank You
    Robert

Hello, i've got a 2.0 passat 2001, i converted to lpg about 15 months ago ( i previously had a diesel). i paid about 1600 for the conversion and have had no problems/ i currently pay 47.9 per litre (preston lancashire) but this has just gone up from 42.9, this seems to be one of the minor problems whereas petrol/diesel goes uo 1 or 2 pence at a time lpg seems to go up 4 or 5p per time which equates to about 10%. i'm still glad i converted though and it is still working out cheaper. you've probably done all the figures anyway, but remember that you lose approx 5% mpg when you convert and a little bit of power( but it's not that noticeable).it depends on what car you have and your annual mileage, i do about 25k per year. with regard to the type of car you have - i need a car the size of a passat as i have three kids, and i didn't want to fill up the whole of the boot with the tank, i suppose with hindsight i wouldn't have minded something with a bit more power, however obviously the more power the less mpg!i suppose an ideal might be say a 1.4 polo which would probably give you excellent mpg at half the price of petrol however you'd end up nearly completely filling the boot with the tank.
    hope this helps

My TDI has a propane injection kit, but this is not a "conversion" as diesels cannot combust gas - so all the gas does is help economy and top up fuelling. Currently paying about 43p a litre I think, at a local flogas outlet, but the petrol stations around me have gas at almost 60p a litre now!

The price of LPG is getting scary - it's that which puts me off the conversion.

Has anyone seen the offer on ebay of LPG at 41p a litre.

There's a pump near me so it could save a few quid filling up if I do the conversion.

I am paying 42.5p at the moment in Barnsley, but have seen it up at over 60p.

Apparently you can get it for 40p in Donny.

When I first had my old 2.4 A6 quattro converted I could get LPG for 29.9p at Junc 34 M1 (Tinsley) now it's 49.9p there.

Just another Goverment rip off - talk us into converting then jack the price up 67%

I think the buble is going to burst in the next year or two and the prices will shoot up
You may think I'm being helpful yet sarcastic, this is only because I feel I need to help you to help yourself in the future
