Can anyone tell me when the isofix standard for baby seats became standard on the B6 models (if at all) or are they just part of the options package?

To all you daddies: Is it a worth while option?

Oh and while I'm at it: Leather or material for cleaning baby puke off?

    Cheers

    hi,

As far as I'm aware Isofix was always an option on the B6, mines a 2004 04 car and hasn't got it.

The main benefit is that it anchors the child seat to the body of the car so in the event of an accident the seat doesn't move as with a seat belt. Having had cars with and without, I'd say its worth it if you can find one with them.

No question, leather for puke cleaning duty. That said (and I do have expereince in this area) it generally goes everywhere, including carpets so a carpet washer / VAX and plenty of odour remover is always recommended (1001 - no vac carpet fresher seems to do the trick for me) A seat protector would do the job for cloth seats.

    Hi there...

Well I aquired a piar of ISOFIX Brackets for my A4 Avant from main dealer - they are about £65 the pair (one for either back seat) and they are a doddle to fit.....just have to remove rear seat base...

I prefer ISOFIX seats as then you dont have to p*ss about with the seat belts....which on my Avant seem to lock at the blink of an eye....very inconvenient when you want to get the seat out and its pishing with rain....

I have leather seats in my car.....but I am still going to get a seat protector anyways....as I want to make cleaning the car out as easy as possible....also have rubber mats which should hopefully catch some of the said puke !

We have ISOFIX in our Bora, and although car seat cost a lot more (Although I think I got ripped off - it was £170) its a god send. Seat clips into the car in seconds, no messing about with seatbelts and its solid as a rock.

I feel much better about my lil one being in it. I'm looking at getting a new car soon and ISOFIX is a must. Safety first, especially for me lil one.

Does the baby/child seat have its own seatbelt? If you have ISOFIX, there's no need for the car's seatbelt or do you still use it?

Is there an "anchor" point (ISOFIX) at the top (or bottom) too? I understand there are 2 ISOFIX points at the base of the baby/child seat which clips into it.

Finally(!), if you have ISOFIX in the car, do you need any other adaptors/extras to clip the seats into?

    Cheers.

How do I get the rear seat bench out?
I don't want to apply too much force to pull it out unless I know I'm not going to break a clip or the like

I bought the parts to retro fit ISOFIX to my car (a 03 A4 Avant) which I'm in the mdst of doing - once the seat is out it looks all very easy (i.e. the car has existing bolt holes so just of matter of boltin the ISOFIX bar on).

    Thanks in advance.

    I'll answer my own question.

Rear seat bench is removed by...
Pulling straight up - at the front - in the centre of each main seating position (i.e. in line with the centre of the driver seat and again in line with the centre of the passenger seat). This pulls up the 2 tabs holding

And fitting the ISOFIX bar is indeed as easy as attaching with 2 bolts (T40) for each bar (1 bar for each side). I just fitted 1 side.

Note the bar is specific to each side.

Where did u get the ISOFIX bars from? Were they from Audi and if so how much? Also does any one know if you can get the front airbag de-activation switch retro- fitted. Would I be able to fit them to my 2003 A4 avant

when i asked audi about airbag switch retro fit a few months ago in same car as you have they quoted me around the £300 mark.
in the end i just stuck 2nd seat behind drivers seat and got used to being slightly further forward than i used to be.
