The picture is not the best of the item, Does it include the plastic covers or do you just have the ISOFIX hooks "hanging" out.

    CWest --

To the question of sourcing and price for the ISOFIX bar - I bought it from my local VAG parts supplier (in Dublin, Ireland). They had it in stock even!
Cost was about 100euro for 1 side.

The total Audit parts you need (per side/child seat) are 1 bar + 2 T40 bolts. That's all. The plastic guides to guide the ISOFIX "arms" of the child seat come with the child seat.

Note as I mentioned previously that the ISOFIX bars are not interchangable between side and are specific to the left or right sides (hence the 2 part numbers). The parts diagram in another post on this thread is exactly right.

    FYI
I bought a Britax Duo Plus seat.

    good luck
    Cheers for the confirmation,

I have just had a look at the prices and ETKA states around the £37 mark..

Think i will get this addition......

CWest -- Do you have any photos of it??

in regards to the plastic sleeves to cover the isofix bars, can you buy these if not supplied with car seat?

    Cheers

    Rick

CWest. If you paid 100 yoyos for the ISOFIX, you were shafted by our beloved MSL, in our beloved RipOff Republic.

I got the setup from Agnews Audi in the north, delivered, for about 50 euros.

I'm taking the beast to a forum sponsor in the north next week - he can put CVs in for 90 pounds per side. I rang four different places here in Dublin, and they range between 220 and 240 euros each side.

PS I dread to think what MSL would charge for CV joints. They estimated the total damage would be about 500 quid for the noise from the steering, which turned out to be the alternator pulley. Replaced with genuine parts, out on my driveway, all tools included, in a few hours, for maybe 100 euros?

To answer a couple of qu's
Here's a picture of the isofix bar - this bar is for the drivers side.
The 2 black pastic parts in the photo are a red herring - they're just the clips that the rear seat bottom fixes to, nothing to do with ISOFIX.

In terms of plastic covers for the ISOFIX bar...
Maybe I'm misinterpreting the question but I certainly would not expect to put plastic on the ISOFIX bars themselves at all. That would prevent the child being able to attach to them.
Where a plastic part does come in, is a pair of plastic guides that attach to the ISOFIX anchor points and which then guide the metal bars of the child seat through to the anchor points. These plastic guides come with the child seat.
Here's a pic of the type of guides I'm talking about (from a quick google search)

Afraid yes indeed MSL are the culprits for the big price - keen to hear more about how you got the parts from Agnew? In particular getting access to a parts catalogue to get the parts correct, etc.

Also if someone has ideas of people selling parts like ISOFIX bars or the like online access to parts cataolgues this would be particularly relevant for my other project (adding ISOFIX to my classic Merc SL). One of my challenges here is to find an suitable ISOFIX part - I don't care what type of car its from but I need to mount it on a vertical surface.

Right... I am going to order a set for the near side today.. (hopefully.)

One final question -- Does the bat bolt (T40) into pre-drilled holes or does it use the existing seat belt anchor points? (ie, remove seat belt anchor point, fit ISOFIX and then re-fit seat belt etc..)

    Thanks

The bolts go straight into predrilled, pretapped, holes. There's nothing you have to do except do up the bolts. It can be done with removing only the lower seat section - from memory, I think the belts and everything stay?

    Rick,

If they are anything like the Passat, there'll be 2 stickers covering the holes that you just have to peel off 1st.
