Anyone know what mileage I should change my cam belt at?

    1995 Golf 1.8 CL

It's at 96,000 at the moment. Not to sure of its service history.

    Cheers.

It's at about 80,000 miles or every 40,000, so you have got a while to go before your next one mate! ..(so long as you got the 80,000 one!!)

It's not only the mileage that counts. VW recommends to replace the cambelt on this model every 40,000 miles or every 4 years (whichever comes first).

I've been quoted £50 labour & parts. Seems ok to me, better safe than sorry me thinks. Do you know if this particular engine will crash the valves if the belt breaks?
